Hmm it should be the img code. you go on your profile, modify profile and then copy and paste the code from Photobucket into the signature box. Let me know if you're having difficulty and I'll see if I can figure it out, if worst comes to worst you could PM me your password and I'll have a look at what's happening for you.

You take the URL and then enclose it in [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] but without the spaces. Or at least I hope that's what you're suppposed to do, cause that's what I've been doing

I was just able to put a pic from photobucket on the favorite pic of the day thread and it worked. . .what site do you use to host your pics --maybe it's the site. . .

When you upload a picture to photobucket or imageshack you get a url for the picture. To post it on forums you need to enclose the link in [/img] that's the code. Apologies if this isn't as clear as it could be I'm not very tech savvy and I'm shattered this morning.
