so, I was thinking the other day and decided to make a list of my favorite movies that Johnny has been in... and then because it was hard, I decided to make a list of my least favorites as well.
This is as close as I can get to a particular order... I'm not entirely sure though Favorites: 1. Arizona Dream 2. Sweeney Todd 3. Finding Neverland 4. Edward Scissorhands 5. Ed Wood
Least Favorites: 1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2. The Libertine 3. Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest 4. Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End 5. Nightmare on Elm Street
These are probably all in the wrong order, and I could add to the favorites forever and had trouble just finding five worst... but this is my list.
So, care to make your own list? Agree with me? Think I'm crazy? Tell me why. And feel free to elaborate on why certain movies are your favorite and least favorite, if you know. I'll write on mine later. And if I had to make a grueling decision between his movies, then you'd better do it too ;D

Favourites:
1. Arizona Dream 2. Cry Baby 3. Benny and Joon 4. Sweeney Todd 5.The Libertine
Least favourite:
1. Blow 2. The Brave 3. The Astronaut's wife 4. Dead man 5. Pirates of the Carribbean 2
Ugh the favourites were so hard, I had to leave out "Secret Window", " Don Juan De Marco", " What's eating Gilbert Grape".....man lol!
"The Brave" and " Blow" could probably swap around on least favourites. I just dislike how slow "The Brave" is and the ending sucks! "Blow" I dunno just wasn't my thing.

Five Faves:
1. The Brave -- everything about it is wonderful to me, and that JD wrote the screenplay and directed it and was in charge of everything -- that probably has a lot to do with it. People say it’s not a “perfect” movie -- and maybe it’s not but what movie is? (*giggling at how this is on Leanne's least fave list, lol*)
2. Sweeney Todd -- He is brilliant and he looks great even though Burton ghastlied him up. The singing. Enough said.
3. Public Enemies -- see my review on the “Spoilers” thread
4. Finding Neverland -- Yes, a slower paced movie. . .but it’s about a writer, and Johnny is so sweet in it, and I need him to be sweet in some of his roles, he plays so many strange and weird and not-so-nice characters that this was a joy for me.
5. Dead Man -- What a flipping weird movie -- but weird in a good way, for me. Maybe it’s the native American thread in it, or the whole spiritual journey aspect or the fact the JD is hurt and yummy. . .don’t know, but me likey. . .
(these are not in any particular order except for The Brave is my #1, the rest are just in my top 5)
Least fave five: (again, in no particular order)
1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Ugh. He looks stupid -- not ugly, just dumb, that effing cigarette holder hanging out of his mouth. . .I am not, nor will I ever be, a HST fan so that is probably the problem right there.
2. The Man who Cried. Not even the scene under the bridge could redeem this for me. It was like JD’s part could’ve been played by anyone, like he was some kind of decoration or something -- no character development whatsoever. A waste of his talent, just my opinion. . .
3. The Ninth Gate. Gah. Just -- I hated all of them. Even Corso, lol. Well, maybe I didn’t hate him, it was JD after all, but his character was so bland to me, like, why should I care about him on any level? (In case you haven’t noticed, I need to feel some connection to my main characters or it doesn’t work). Plus, I’m still not sure I even get what happened at the end of that movie and I’ve seen it lots of times on tv. The only good thing about it is that he met Vanessa when he was filming it, so maybe that was the only purpose for him to make it, lol. . .
4. Once Upon A Time in Mexico. Kind of like, “Ninth Gate” only not quite the hatred for it. Another movie I never really got into plot-wise, and maybe that’s because I’m not smart enough to follow that sort of movie.
5. ?
I am stuck for a fifth that I don’t like. I probably would put “Private Resort” there, just because it is so bad, but to me it’s so bad it’s kind of hilarious. . .I mean, I don’t hold it against him, him making that movie, he needed to work, lol. . .plus ibbi’s sweetie is in there as well, and I am fond of it for that alone. . .there are a few that I haven’t seen: “Freddy’s Dead” (though I’ve seen JD’s cameo), Happily Ever After, Before Night Falls, Corpse Bride. Everything else I would put somewhere right in the middle -- I definitely like them, watch them at various times. I adore NOES, I think he is so young and beautiful and trying so hard. I mean, the movie is dated and you can see he hasn’t hit his stride yet, but he wasn’t the worst actor I’ve ever seen in that kind of movie. Plus, everyone loved him, even then, the cast and had nothing but good to say about him.
21 Jump Street is my one true love. Despite the cheesiness, the fact that JD hated it -- watching him and knowing he would one day make that leap from good actor to great actor as the show evolved -- I feel privileged to have seen that.
Plus, the show has a lot of great moments.

It's funny to see the discrepancy... two of Leanne's bottom five were just barely off my Top Five (which, I swear, is so hard to stand by... it seems like all of them are great). And Gina hasn't posted on here, but one of her favorites is in my least favorites. Favorites: 1. Arizona Dream 2. Sweeney Todd 3. Finding Neverland 4. Edward Scissorhands 5. Ed Wood Least Favorites: 1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2. The Libertine 3. Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest 4. Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End 5. Nightmare on Elm Street My evaluations: Arizona Dream- this is one of the strangest and coolest films I've ever seen. I love the themes, and Johnny looks so cute in this. It just causes a strange mixture of emotions, and there are some crazy funny moments. Sweeney Todd- I'm not sure this shouldn't be in the first... it's the first film that I could genuinely say was a favorite. I love the art direction, the music (which I mostly have memorized) the characters, the story, johnny's acting (although it did take me until the fourth viewing to get over "omg he's so hot" and realize how extremely creepy he was), Alan Rickman, etc. Johnny should have gotten the Oscar, and would have in a better year. Finding Neverland- I must admit that Freddie Highmore has elevated this one, because I really like him as an actor. As well, it's a wonderful story, and it's great fun seeing Mr. Barrie interacting with the children. It's one of his more normal roles, but still has the quirk he likes. Not to mention, I tend to love anything about writers. Edward Scissorhands- this is pretty much the original Johnny, for me. Obviously he'd done more, but it's where I think he really found his niche, it's the first time he worked with Tim, and it's his first role with real depth (after Platoon got cut). Plus, it's just a great story, and the Avon part is hilarious. Ed Wood- This has been lauded as the best J&T movie (before sweeney), and I think it's definitely true, or at least close. Although I love all of their movies, this one really stands out. It's touching, and hilarious, and really makes you like Ed Wood, or at least sympathize with him. I saw it after my teacher showed Plan 9 from outer space (I didn't watch though, I took the time to go to another class) and he went on about how bad it was... so it was cool to see the filming (or a depiction of) behind it. Baddies: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- this could take me forever to write. Suffice it to say that I hate it for a different reason than most people, and will maintain that it is the best Charlie movie out there. But, it still ruins the book. Not as much, but very noticeably. And I mean, really... is it that hard to make the Oompa Loompas like they were in the book?? I think the government (or at least, the British government) should demand an accurate version so Roald Dahl doesn't have to hate both versions (although I think he'd like this one better, were he alive). Still, they should never have touched Charlie. They had no attention to detail. I mean, Johnny usually has a goatee, and he doesn't wear it for the movie? That's just neglect. I doubt anyone even bothered to read the movie. He tries to be so accurate when he does real people, couldn't he show Wonka the same respect? EPIC FAIL. The Libertine- I know this is on Gina's top list, but I didn't enjoy it. The lighting did me in the most, and although I watched the whole thing I can't remember pretty much anything about the plot (except a play involving hand carved dildos? Maybe I should like it just for this reason ). I did like the beginning monologue though, that might actually bump this down a little. Pirates 2 and 3- these are pretty much the same... over written (the writers did not need to write Jack as a funny character. He was written straight in the first one, and most of his appeal is in delivery and actions, not in what he actually says. Putting both together just cheapened him and it was NOT good), and anyway, a two part movie is no fun. Keith Richards and some of the third one redeems them (hence why 2 is worse than 3), but overall, just bad. Of course, there are some funny parts. Nightmare- I am terrified of scary movies. Unbelievably so. While I think Johnny was cute and sweet and all in this, I cannot watch it. In fact, I should probably put it second since it's unwatchable. This is my own bias though, I'm sure the film is very nice if you can handle scary movies.

I do like AD a lot. . .it's weird but the acting is stellar on everyone's part. . .I've seen it a million times and I'm still not quite sure I get what all is happening, lol. . .but it's fun and sweet and it's certainly not dull, so it's up there for me. . .
Another one I go back and forth on is WEGG. He's lovely in that and the story is wonderful -- dysfunctional family to a new level. It's my daughter's fave JD movie but I think what keeps it from being in my top 5 is knowing Johnny was so miserably personally during that movie -- it shouldn't matter, and it doesn't in that I love the movie, but it -- makes me look at it differently for some reason, not a bad reason, just -- like, again, I know too much about it or something.
ES, EW -- they're very good and I think were probably on my top five list at one point. But it is sooo hard to keep that list the same. He just makes too many great movies.
CATCF -- I like it for the pure and simple reason it brings my 7 year-old great joy. Otherwise -- not sure what I'd think, I see it through his eyes, and that Johnny has made my kid happy with a performance -- that's good enough for me. Same with the Pirates movies -- he loves those, as does my girl and they might not be my favorites, but that he can give a performance that stirs them as some of his other work has stirred me -- that's what it's all about.
This is a great topic for discussion, everyone. Thanks for starting it, aplsdka!

CATCF -- I like it for the pure and simple reason it brings my 7 year-old great joy. Same with the Pirates movies -- he loves those, as does my girl and they might not be my favorites, but that he can give a performance that stirs them as some of his other work has stirred me -- that's what it's all about. That's a sweet reason to like it . I have a love-hate relationship with CATCF actually... as a movie, it's great and I really enjoyed it, and I will defend it to anyone who says it's a bad movie. I like watching it more than anything else on my bottom list (and probably some middle ones too). BUT, I have always been and always will be, a book purist. The first incident I can remember where a movie really fell through for me was WWATCF, so for years I had been hoping that a good adaptation would be done, that would actually follow the book. Although I think they did a much better job, it's still a far cry from right. I hate it mainly because by making it (and doing it wrong), they've pretty much shut off the chance to get a good one. I could always get rich and commission it, but most likely no one will feel a need to remake it for a second time. But I'll still keep my fingers crossed. So anyway, I have nothing against the movie as an entity, just that it crushed my dreams. (they didn't even have both parents there! It can't cost that much to pay adults to stand around and look stupid!). I really wish Tim Burton had just thought to call me, but I wasn't really counting on that . Pirates is another one where I love them, but miss what could have been too much not to dislike them. I think my issue here is too high of expectations, really . I'm still holding out hope for Pirates 4 though! I should call the screenwriters up, just to make sure they do this one right. And he himself, of course, is awesome in them. I bet that I could watch an entire movie of Jack Sparrow walking aimlessly about. So long as he got into some sword fights, did some girly running, and said 'superfluous'. Oh, and my list of movies I haven't seen (since I know I've missed some good ones, and bad ones)- Platoon, Don Juan DeMarco, Dead Man, Donnie Brasco, From Hell, Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Wow, I could have sworn that this list was longer... I have a feeling I'll like (from what I've heard) Platoon, Dead Man, Donnie Brasco, From Hell, Once Upon A Time. And dislike Don Juan DeMarco. So that'd probably replace Pirates 3 (educated guess, I actually watched the first 20 or 30 minutes, but the youtube quality was horrible and I couldn't put up with it any longer). Oh and just because I feel like I have to discuss it... I really liked The Brave, it's just not in my top five. As far as I know. I should have made like a scatter plot or something. My problem is that I'm way too easily amused. Movies make noise and have light, and these things tend to get my attention. Then I don't know how to pick between them... But anyway, The Brave is great, and I love Johnny in that. I think that it's really cool how he wrote and directed it, and dislike the critics quite muchly. I thought that it was a really sweet story, and sad ending. I was hoping something a little more positive would occur, but then I really find that dark endings are the best anyway. And yeah, it's a little rough, but it kind of adds to it for me. Plus, he looks good in it. Perhaps I should just rate how attractive he is and use that as a ranking system or something. FYI, that would put Sleepy Hollow in first place. He looks *amazing* in that. Unbelievably so. Although I'm a book purist and Tim Burton is *obviously* not, which keeps it off my list since the list isn't hotness ranked. Yet.

I know what you mean about the book purist thing -- never is a film as good as the book it's based on. It just isn't. They can be good in their own right, but the books will always be better no matter how good the film is -- and usually, a film based on a book kind of sucks. Which is why I kind of have to separate the two things and expect that the movie isn't going to be as good as the book I read and just try and view it as if there wasn't some awesome book it was adapted from lying around. . .sometimes this little game works for me, sometimes not, depending on how much I liked the book. . .for instance, Stephen King books that are made into movies are awful. And I love Stephen King -- or I did, more so in my younger years -- so those movies are hard for me to watch. But CATCF/WWATCF -- that story wasn't ever something I really took a shine to anyway, so the movie take on it didn't bother me. . .that's just me, how I work, though. . . And he himself, of course, is awesome in them. I bet that I could watch an entire movie of Jack Sparrow walking aimlessly about. So long as he got into some sword fights, did some girly running, and said 'superfluous'. I agree, but again, I wasn't looking that deeply into the storyline to start with -- so whatever they want to do with it is fine with me. My daughter is adamant that there should be no Pirates 4 (I don't care one way or the other) and I think it's because she feels any storyline they come up with will be below standard. I don't know -- surely someone can come up with something that will use Jack in the way he deserves to be used in such a movie -- and I can't believe JD will agree to a crappy screenplay. . .of course, what one's person's version of crap is might be another person's award winning screenplay, lol. . . Yet. Okay, if we're going to rate him purely on his looks -- well, taking JS off the table since it's technically not a movie -- here are my top 5 JD movies according to how hot he is: (in no order): 1. Blow Hot, hot, hot. The hair, the swagger, the tan, the Johnny-ness. Yum -o, as Rachel Ray would say. 2. PE. Holy God. He is 46 and he's still stunning in every possible way. Thank you so much, Johnny, for that 3. Astronaut's Wife -- I know, he was pure evil but so sizzling hot I just die when I see him in that still -- and I am actually one of the few people I know who like that movie of his, quite a bit. . . 4.Finding Neverland -- looking so good. I'm sensing a theme here, the shorter-haired, clean cut Johnny is my favorite I think. . . 5. WEGG -- a sweet hottie. His face was particularly beautiful to me in that one I saw ES today unexpectedly on tv -- miminal commercials and I was here alone so I had it on -- it really is a wonderful movie, I haven't seen it for quite awhile so I think I'd forgotten just how damn good he really is in it -- that face, those eyes are perfection. I wish he'd make a silent film, just for fun because I am finding more and more how I like to just watch him and his expressiveness with his face. . . (And he looks pretty hot in my beautiful Platoon sig, so yeah, he is just hot, it's hard to narrow it to just 5, lol)

But CATCF/WWATCF -- that story wasn't ever something I really took a shine to anyway, so the movie take on it didn't bother me. . .that's just me, how I work, though. . . exactly... I've learned to watch the movie before I read the book, because I know that I'll always enjoy the book more. For My Sister's Keeper (which is the world's best book, if anyone here hasn't read it they must) I just resigned myself to knowing that it wasn't going to be anything like the book, and found out about the deviations (most of them... they made the girls younger!)(obviously I don't deal well with this stuff ) beforehand, so I thought it was a good movie. I have to make a decision to separate the book and movie, and it tends to turn out okay. Oh, but I find LOTR to be the exception to the book rule... I didn't care for the books, but the movie was okay. And in general if I'm just iffy it's fine for me. What did you think of Secret Window? I agree, but again, I wasn't looking that deeply into the storyline to start with -- so whatever they want to do with it is fine with me. My daughter is adamant that there should be no Pirates 4 (I don't care one way or the other) and I think it's because she feels any storyline they come up with will be below standard. I'm holding up hope that it'll make up for the last . Not that the last ones were bad, and the storyline was good... but it still had something missing for me. I will be crushed if it is bad, so maybe there's a point not to do it... but really, I feel like Jack is such a cool character that you can't just cut him off while Johnny's still interested. (And he looks pretty hot in my beautiful Platoon sig, so yeah, he is just hot, it's hard to narrow it to just 5, lol) You like him blonde, don't you? Gilbert isn't quite blonde, although he's lighter... and in any case I'm sensing a type too . And Neverland and Public Enemies is very close to the same look, although of course it isn't because his attitude influences it, and those characters are almost diametrically opposed. Both very hot though I love him in Edward Scissorhands because of his expressions. He only says 169 words in the entire thing (didn't count that myself, IMDb), and yet you would never think that he's so silent because he expresses so much with his face and body. I love watching that one. He would have been an amazing silent actor. Okay, because I can't be left out of the fun... Johnny's hottest roles: 1. Sleepy Hollow. I love the contrast of really dark hair and eyes against white skin. Adding that to the facial expressions... definitely the hottest Johnny I've ever seen. 2. Pirates. He's just unbelievably hot in this. I enjoy guyliner, and I love his goatee. Plus, he just moves and speaks so unusually and interestingly. 3. Ninth Gate. Although the movie didn't go anywhere, he was really hot in it. He has this great combination of being entirely brown in it... like, hair, mustache, goatee, eyes, skin, clothes. At least often. Also, I know this has nothing to do with the hotness (except that he is partially naked while he says this, always a good look) but I love the line "I thought I just did". 4. Finding Neverland. Well, he's just so cute in this, and his character is so earnest and sweet too. I like the clean shaven look occasionally... actually I have a feeling I like all of his looks. But he's just so... I don't even know what, in this. But it's great. And I love the bloopers where he goes on about prostitutes to avoid swearing in front of the kids, or something like that. 5. From Hell- I haven't actually seen this, but I've seen a few pictures and I think that this is one of his hottest roles. I can't say for sure, that's why it's number 5. I've been dying to see it, but the one time I recorded it, it was in spanish. And I decided to skip out on year four of that class, making me 1.3 lingual at best. Close seconds... Arizona Dream, The Brave, Sweeney Todd (I know it's a weird look, but I still really like it). And of course Jump Street would be up here, were it a movie. Which it may soon be .

What did you think of Secret Window? I liked the movie because I've never read the story -- was off my Stephen King thing by then. I should read it now, just to compare. . . hmm, I'm opposite of her... The first Pirates movie is her favorite -- the other two pale in comparsion for her, but she likes them. . .I am the opposite, I LOVE AWE best, I think Johnny is hilarious, outdoes himself in the comedic department. . . and I agree, Johnny loves Jack so if he wants to do him still, who am I to deny him that pleasure? You like him blonde, don't you? Gilbert isn't quite blonde, although he's lighter... and in any case I'm sensing a type too . And Neverland and Public Enemies is very close to the same look, although of course it isn't because his attitude influences it, and those characters are almost diametrically opposed. Both very hot though I do often think of Johnny as "lighter" haired -- even in JS I always described him as such. . .weird, isn't it, but you're right. . . he always looks hot, maybe not in FLILV but everything else. . .he looks fine in SH. . .sort of that Burton ghastliness that he has in those films. . .I know what you mean in ST, he looked hot even though he wasn't supposed to. . .wasn't it David Koepp that said you can't make Johnny ugly, you can only "rumple him up" but never make him ugly? That is the truth, amen. I love him in Edward Scissorhands because of his expressions. He only says 169 words in the entire thing (didn't count that myself, IMDb), and yet you would never think that he's so silent because he expresses so much with his face and body. I love watching that one. He would have been an amazing silent actor. And his voice! It hardly sounds like him! But every now and then you get a hint of it -- wonderful. I wept watching him -- not so much the storyline, but the knowledge that he loved this role so much -- and it shows. Okay, because I can't be left out of the fun... Johnny's hottest roles: From Hell- I haven't actually seen this, but I've seen a few pictures and I think that this is one of his hottest roles. I can't say for sure, that's why it's number 5. I've been dying to see it, but the one time I recorded it, it was in spanish. And I decided to skip out on year four of that class, making me 1.3 lingual at best. It's a good movie and he is hot in it. . .for some people this is a defining movie for them. . .I liked it but it wasn't my "ultimate favorite" -- we'll talk more when you've seen it. . . Close seconds... Arizona Dream, The Brave, AD -- he is fine. Very fine. And sweet. I do like how he looks in that movie, very much. And The Brave. . .well, the ending is so classic Johnny, saying it all without a speaking word, which he did quite a bit of the whole movie. . . and doesn't it seem as if he is lighter-haired there as well?

The first Pirates movie is her favorite -- the other two pale in comparsion for her, but she likes them. . .I am the opposite, I LOVE AWE best, I think Johnny is hilarious, outdoes himself in the comedic department. . . and I agree, Johnny loves Jack so if he wants to do him still, who am I to deny him that pleasure? Mine too (the first one), although AWE is pretty good as well. DMC is the really bad one. In fact, I actually really liked AWE, now that I remember. I must have watched it like five times when it first came out. The scene on the boat is unbelievably awesome. I just tend to skip over the first half hour, and after that I like it . Johnny really does wonderfully in all of them though, just more so in the ones that aren't DMC. I do often think of Johnny as "lighter" haired -- even in JS I always described him as such. . .weird, isn't it, but you're right. . . he always looks hot, maybe not in FLILV but everything else. . .he looks fine in SH. . .sort of that Burton ghastliness that he has in those films. . .I know what you mean in ST, he looked hot even though he wasn't supposed to. . .wasn't it David Koepp that said you can't make Johnny ugly, you can only "rumple him up" but never make him ugly? That is the truth, amen. That's funny, I always thought of him as dark haired, although I recently realized that he's not... I mean, darker than your average brown, but still not that dark. I think it's definitely true that you can't make him ugly. Although god knows he's tried very hard... he wanted prosthetic ears on SH or something... but he'll always be hot. And his voice! It hardly sounds like him! But every now and then you get a hint of it -- wonderful. I wept watching him -- not so much the storyline, but the knowledge that he loved this role so much -- and it shows. Yeah, it's such a transformation. You can tell how much he really liked it. I think I may have wanted to cry from the storyline alone... but really from the way he acts. It's a great film, and Johnny is beyond superb in it. It's a good movie and he is hot in it. . .for some people this is a defining movie for them. . .I liked it but it wasn't my "ultimate favorite" -- we'll talk more when you've seen it. . . It's recorded, I just need an uninterrupted two hours . Can't wait. And The Brave. . .well, the ending is so classic Johnny, saying it all without a speaking word, which he did quite a bit of the whole movie. . . and doesn't it seem as if he is lighter-haired there as well? Haha, it does seem like he's lighter haired in The Brave. And I agree, the ending is perfect for him. He does so well with silent acting. Even though his voice is amazing, I think my favorite shots of him are when he's not saying anything.

I haven't seen every one of his movies but most of them. It's so hard to put only 5 favorites up there. How about the ones I don't like as much first. Ok here we go. 1. Before the night falls- I didn't like the movie so much though Johnny did do a good job as the transvestite and the horny army guy.
2. Platoon- was a good movie but they cut his part down to nothing, I didn't like that at all. I read where they had to cut it due to him taking over Charlie Sheen's part and the people liked his character better.
3. Dead man- though I thought he did a good job with his character the movie it self didn't do anything for me. I found it a bit boring.
4. Private Resort- I thought he was so cute and it was a funny bubble gum 80's movie but nothing to write home about.
Right now I can't think of a number 5...lol.....I didn't get Charlie and the Chocolate factory because I wasn't a fan the first time around with Gene Wilder, but that isn't fair to Johnny because I never saw it.
Now this is so hard to cut down cause I enjoyed so many of his movies.
1. Donnie Brasco- is one of my favorites. I love true stories and this was a good one. I also love the gangster and mob movies too. So this had it all. Johnny really felt the part in this.
2. Public Enemies- Another story on a true person and gangsters, just loved it. And that it was in the 30's which also interests me. He did a great job in this as well. So sad with the Bye Bye Black Bird, loved that song.
3. Chocolat- I really enjoyed this movie , Johnny wasn't a lead but the part was big enough to satisfy me. I liked him as a water rat gypsy..lol....As you can see on my signiture.
4. Blow- Another true story I liked this and it also reminded me a bit of Good Fellas. It touched into the mob a bit and how things went through the years for George Jung and how sad he became in Jail all due to coke.
5 Oh man there are several more I have to make this list bigger. Gilbert Grape I thought he did a fantastic job on how this. How Gilbert wanted a real life, how frustrated he was with it and how he had to push down his anger about his mother along with his life. He had so much on his plate. But he loved Arnie and that too just sealed it for me how Gilbert was with him. And then Juliet Lewis comes into the picture showing Johnny he could have a different life. And I thought Gilbert by burning down the house so his mom wouldn't be embarrassed anymore, also showed he was getting rid of his past and going to move on. He kept Arnie with him. After all he was the only one who could handle him anyway...just a touching movie.
6. Bennie and Joon - I enjoyed this movie too. The way he acted with the flips and doing that on his own no stunt man, chasing the hat , he just really pulled this character off. I also love Adian Quinn and how he came around to liking Bennie and seeing the funny entertaining side to this strange guy. Also how Bennie was able to get through to Joon and loved her too.
7. Nick Of Time- This was nice to see him playing a father who loved his daughter so much he'd do anything for her and still try and do the right thing. I also love Christopher Walken he is a great evil guy in movies.
Of course there are other's I adore and Sweeny Todd was a pleasant surprise so much so I got a copy for my sister for Christmas....I thought Johnny had a wonderful voice in this. Helen Bonham Carter ( who I first saw in the 80's on Miami Vice) really pulled this off too. I think she also did a fantastic job and sang well. I notice she too did another movie with Johnny and Tim Burton with Alice in Wonderland. I didn't think I'd like that movie but I ended up liking it between Johnny's performance, Helen's and Ann's it was just a wonderful fantasy. And Secret Window, boy he was so good in that displaying how he can act like a crazy person and he did. But I could go on and on with the movies but those are my favorites. Sue
