It really didn't. No idea! I'm passing too, I was gonna give it a chance but after the trailer, no way. I can't believe Holly tweeted saying it looked funny. Nothing about that looks funny. Maybe Holly is toting the company line ROFL! I don't know, but cops not knowing the Miranda rights what?!!?! That's dumb. One of them is supposed to be Jenko? Shouldn't they have the movie based in the 1950's? Or whatever year Jenko was in his 20's? And not in 2011?

www.21jumpstreet-movie.com/site/If you click the VHs and play the trivia game, you see that according to this site at least the character of Jenko in the movie could be the son of Jenko from the series! Not only that, but Holly did REPRISE her role as Judy. And look at all those references! hell apparently after the program was originally shut down the police leased the chapel to a Korean church!

Revealed: Johnny Depp's One Condition For Making His '21 Jump Street' Cameo Access Hollywood – Wed, Mar 14, 2012 Email

Access has learned that Depp agreed to the cameo - with one cool condition - if they also brought back Depp's former fellow original series co-star Peter DeLuise for a cameo too. PLAY IT NOW: Holly Robinson Peete: ‘I Begged’ To Make A Cameo In ‘21 Jump Street’ Fans of the late 1980s television series will know that Peter, the son of Dom DeLuise, played Depp's on screen partner -- Officer Doug Penhall -- in the late 1980s television series. As for their cameos, Access has also learned that lots of wild improvising happened when Depp and DeLuise joined Hill and Tatum. VIEW THE PHOTOS: Jonah Hill: From ‘Superbad’ To Oscar Nominee Holly Robinson Peete, who starred as Officer Judy Hoffs, also makes her cop cameo in the new film. Click HERE to watch Holly talk about her cameo. Fans will want to pay very close attention during the cameo scenes to spot the movie's small screen homage to another original cast member - Dustin Nguyen. Richard Grieco, who played Officer Dennis Booker in the TV series, attended Tuesday's premiere, but for fans wondering why he didn't make a cameo in the film, it was because the film stuck to original, Season 1 cast members. VIEW THE PHOTOS: Access Top 10: Hottest ‘80s Reboots But, if "21 Jump Street" sparks a sequel, Greico, who after joining the show in Season 3, left ahead of Season 4 for the spinoff show, "Booker," said he'll likely be asked to cameo at that time. "It's a comedy and I was too dark," he smiled last night, while speaking to Access at the movie premiere, about why he wasn't in the film. "I know the directors and producers and Columbia and MGM have talked about me in it. Now. In hindsight." VIEW THE PHOTOS: Johnny Depp: Hollywood’s Man Of Many Faces Greico noted his character brought a heavier element to the show. "The Booker character - it made the third season great, because you need an antagonist," he told Access. "Everyone can't be chummy, chummy all the time... If Darth Vader wasn't in 'Star Wars,' Luke Skywalker would just be a guy travelling around with a frickin' sword. So that intensified the series, so I think if they do a sequel, it'll be a little different." Copyright 2012 by NBC Universal, Inc. All rights reserved. I've seen it today, and loved it I hated it at the beginning though. I thought it was stupid and offensive until some great humor came along and depp's cameo appearance of course! It was worth making. Raising 21 jump street from the grave..wow:)

Just got back from the movie. Loved it. It truly captured the feel of the show while staying fresh for a new generation. It takes a little while to pick up, but once it gets going it is firing on all cylinders. It has a great sense of humor about itself and never takes the material too seriously.
Depps cameo is brilliant. You have no idea.
But more importantly then anything, it touches on some of the themes of the show. Growing up, dealing with the problems you had in high school, and friendship.
Once more people on here have seen it I'd love to talk about what the cameo means in terms of what happened between the old series and now.

I saw it today, and I've heard of all the positive reviews, but it honestly wasn't that funny.

I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was pretty funny and they did a really good job at combining the new generation with the old. I thought the continuity was pretty good. When I went to see the movie in theatres I was at a pretty busy time in my life so I managed to miss the buzz that Johnny was doing a cameo. I only knew of HRP. So imagine my surprise. My boyfriend had to calm me down. He thought I was going to have a heart attack lol!

I ended up seeing it on netflix. I stand by my original viewpoint that it was a horrible remake. There was too much swearing and the humour was low brow and outright silly and gross at points to me. I'll stick with the show. I prefer the balance they had between the comedy and the angst.
