Today me and my friends met Ant and Dec (they're British presenters)! First famous people I've met lol! They were in the Waterstones book shop in Newcastle (that's their hometown). Anyway we found out last night and decided instead of going to the cinema like originally planned, we'd go through Newcastle and chance seeing them.
The boys were getting there at 1pm to sign. Me, Nicola and Lynz thought oh we'll get the half 10 train, we'll be there early there won't be much of a queue (line for you none British folks ). Yeah we were wrong. Very, very wrong lol!
We got to Waterstones and bought our copies of their book at about 10:50am and were told the cut off point of 200 people had already been reached so there was no guarantee we'd even see Ant and Dec but we were welcome to wait and see. We joined the queue regardless and were given a raffle ticket which meant we were the 260-263rd people in the queue. We got post it notes and had to write our names on them.
So yeah then the waiting game began. Me and Nicola made Lynz keep our place whilst we got food from Burger King then she went lol! Then the line started to move at about 12pm, a woman turned up and wanted everyone to do crowd kareoke. We said no lol! She insisted everyone join in, she was begging people bless her. She asked if we'd sing if she put "Let's get ready to rumble" on. Half the crowd agreed. "Let's get ready to rumble" is an Ant and Dec song you see. They were singers for a little while. I say singers..........
Anyways, her plan was foiled because NO ONE knows all the words to that song, not even Ant and Dec. The only words anyone knows and therefore sings are " Let's get ready, ready, let's get ready to rumble" and "Watch us wreck the mic, watch us wreck the mic....PYSCHE!" so she failed lol! She kept going " COME ON NEWCASTLE DURHAM ARE WINNING!" and we cheered since we're from Durham lol! Got some mighty weird looks.
So the line kept moving slowly, at around half 1 the security guard told us that 250 people could get their books signed, but they'd try their best to see some more people. They also announced Ant and Dec wanted to leave at around 2pm because there was a football match on at 3pm they wanted to see.
Eventually we got told we could get our books signed but we were in the final lot and nearly everyone else (there was a good two hundred or so behind us) went after we were let into Waterstones.
We had to wait ages inside the shop as well as people ever so slowly went up three flights of stairs (for some reason Ant and Dec had to be hidden away on the top floor!) eventually we got to the top and took some (bad) pics as we waited from a far.
Finally got to the front and met them *squee!*. Dec who's my fave signed the book first and he was really nice and smiling. He said hi and asked how I was, I asked how he was, then I moved onto Ant who looked a little bored bless him. He signed my book and handed it back and I told him thanks, so he said I was welcome
T'was fun. I was so fan girly about it lol! They're the first famous people I've met.
I have pictures as well:
Me, Lynz and Nicola buying our copies of Ant and Dec's book.
Waiting in the queue.......
Nicola decided to take a picture of me eating chips hence the bemused yet amused look on my face.
Me...still waiting....
Blurred first sighting of Ant
First sighting of Dec!
And finally the autographs:
Dec appears to have signed his full name of Declan lol.
so yes if you read all of this you get a cookie lol!
