Oh.. you're so right..!! When some1 so close to you get murdered right in front of you like Amy did, he seemed to get over it ever so quickly.. i mean he should have gone thru some kind of mourning, like a mini breakdown or something.. in the next episode it seemed like Amy never existed!!!

Lol!!! ^^^ specially when he's struggling to get free when he first goes in, that hat never moves even when he's taken and drugged up to the eyeballs in state hospital when Judy and Fuller go to rescue him!!! Back then they didn't care how it was explained, the wig and hat didn't ever move. They left it to our imaginations....lol They always did things out of context like that in so many shows back then., Some shows these days don't do that and will carry on and show you what's up and keep the past right which is how it should be. I think they thought ok the viewers will think so much time has passed but how much time has passed, it was never said? And that is that with Amy and everything else never brought up again. Well that's my opinion anyway..lol I loved the way they showed Depp going into his melt down, I thought he did a fantastic job with that. That's what really got to me and it's one of my favorite episodes due to how he was able to act just like he was losing it and he was. But the show's way of solving this episode was by letting Hanson get the guy but fuller asking if he'd got those 3.3 seconds back and then putting flowers on Amy's grave. That's how they solved that one, big deal they made it simple but it wasn't. It's called entertainment but come on you get into the episode and then it's up for grabs on how it ends and what you think happened. And then with the state hospital you see him falling and needing help from Fuller and Judy and that was it, the end? I was like there has to be more to this like how was he after being drugged and treated that way, how did the team help him. How was he with Kenny dying? That was a big one too And also he never got permission to do what he did, he made up the assignment! Did he get a slap on the wrist or just get away with it? The one that really got me too was the Hammer, can't remember the name of the episode. But he is the only one able to stay in there, Pennhall can't, they shipped him out and they shipped Booker and Ioki out too. So what happens, like it's been said just these three episodes show you that he went through hell. One thing I love is how they show him lonely with the girl in the tunnel. Yet he won't give in and be with her. Seeing the tear well up in his eye and then drip down his face had to be one of the best scenes, loved it. Anyway, Pennhall went through hell too with the clastophobia and how did they not know that he had that coming from the academy? One thing I did want to ask, i'm very curious and it's a bit off the subject. I see a lot of things refering to Johnny wanting things when on JS and them just making him happy. I know this is like throwing out a bomb here but what did he want? Did he have the right to change certain things his way? And is that what he wanted more control over his character? What did happen with Johnny on the show to cause him to get so upset? Just wanted to find out since I never looked into it, just watched the show and some of his movies. Apperciate all the answers...thanks in advance.....Sue

Johnny wanted to change storylines. He didn't like Hanson's character and tried his best to change it (that's probably why Hanson went from being all preppy to being a bit of a rebellious bad ass.) Eventually he started coming up with his own storylines, one where he wanted Hanson to develop a fetish with peanut butter which would involved the rest of the Jump Street team walking in on Hanson smearing peanut butter on his naked body and another more serious one where Hanson was committed after slowly going mad undercover in an asylum. Both ideas got shot down (though Hanson did get to go undercover in the hospital).
Eventually Johnny would just mess around in an attempt to get fired I think.

The peanut butter thing had to be part of him going down hill, having his break down. I can see the peanut butter thing but the going mad would explain so much after all that happened to him. I'd love to hear more stories and opened up a thread for this sort of things. Cause I don't know, like I said some of the things that happened. How he got along with co workers, the big people.......the jokes , stunts pulled and all this stuff with being unhappy. But they did let him do somethings with the Hanson character like you said he got more jaded....thanks so much that was interesting I hope you and others share more on that thread I made to educate me..lol...Sue

I don't think the peanut butter fetish was meant to be Hanson going mad, I think it was just Johnny trying to push buttons lol! I'm not sure many of the audience would have found a problem with a naked Mr Depp however

Penhall was part Catholic, part Jewish right? And his dad was a priest? Well how does that work? If his dad was a Catholic priest, they don't have wives or kids. They're celibate. Unless that's the reason he's a former priest. Maybe he got kicked out of the priesthood.

Yeah, there were a lot of inconsistences or major events that were never really followed up. But I always figured that there's a time gap between episodes. Like the episode following Orpheus 3.3 could have taken place anywhere between a few weeks to a month after, so the emotional devastation wouldn't be so strong on Hanson and he bottles up a lot of stuff anyway.
As far as inconsistences go, if I had been writing 21 Jump Street...Judy and Tom would have been an item. I mean, they pushed it SO hard in the Pilot and then they drop that plotline later on. But they left a lot of hints that something was going on between the two of them. I mean seriously: Gotta Finish The Rift, Low and Away when Jake shows Judy his picture and says "Not Bad huh?" How she smiles and then looks away guiltily when she glances over at Tom and he gives her THAT look.
The way Tom was acting in Fun With Animals as far as Judy and Booker flirting around seemed more than just an overprotective friend to me. It was definitely that, but it seemed like he was jealous. And then the scene between the two of them after he storms out of Fuller's office after the botched attempt to 'expose' Booker. I feel like they should've at least had more moments together that showed a close friendship. Judy was the first person he bonded with at Jump Street after all.
Stand By Your Man is one of my favorite episodes. Something bothered me though. I feel like we should've seen more of a reaction from Doug and Tom. I mean, Ioki wasn't even THERE, which sucked and then Penhall and Hanson seemed so detached. They were sorry it happened to Judy and wanted justice to be done but I would've like to have seen them angry about it. They've both gotten pissed over minor things before. And like some of you said, after the rape the rape we should've seen like, how it affected Judy more.
None of the team was able to keep a boyfriend/girlfriend that lasted more than a couple episodes. Some girls were introduced and never heard from again like the teacher from 'Don't Pet The Teacher' and the girl that Harry was claiming to be IN LOVE with in 'The Currency We Trade In.' Amy and Marta were killed off, Marcus was a two timing bum, and Linda left Tom. The only ones who lasted the longest were Jackie and Dorothy.
The middle name issue with Judy: Jenko called her Judith Esther, then her Mom called her Judy Marie, and the Judy tells Marcus her middle name is Anne. Maybe she had a super long one: Judith Esther Marie Anne Hoffs.
One of the biggest inconsistences I hate though is Hanson and Ioki just disappearing, never to be seen or mentioned again.
